We all carry the seeds of life within us. We are born with these seeds. We may think of them as babies, ideas, projects or dreams. A seed gets to be birthed into the world through us and us…
A part of us is always in the seed. The baby carries the seed of the mother and the father, and at the same time carries his/her own seeds for new generations to come.
The family connection has commonly named the call of the blood. It is the call of the initial seed that connects us all.
To me as a photographer, capturing a mother and her child is magical. Through my lens I get to witness the blooming of a new seed. But this new seed could have not been here without the seed of the mother and the father.
I believe that years later when we get to look back at our childhood photos we all want our photos to reflect the initial connection we had with our parents. The truth is there would be no us without them.
The birthing process requires courage, intuition, love and trust. The trust in the divinity of the seed to know what to do and how to evolve without our help. However, the seed needs the mother’s help to be birthed into this world.
We all are bathed with the mother’s love when we take our first breath. That love is there, unshaken, unchanged for us to soak on throughout our lives. It is that love that gets to be captured in time through photos. It is the bravery of the mother, the love in her eyes, the connection with her baby and the trust in the divine.
